# ApplicationState

> Whether an application has a living session.



**Kind**: `enum`

## Values

**`RUNNING`** — At least one session reported within the timeout.

**`STALE`** — There is a session, but none reported within the timeout.

**`NOT_RUNNING`** — There is no active session. For a client application this is normal; a service that is missing may be shut down on purpose, for example during an update.
