# CharacteristicValue

> A value of a characteristic, for example 'Cotton' for the characteristic 'Material'. Items are assigned values. A value carries its texts per language and belongs to exactly one characteristic.

## Fields

**`id`**: `ID!`

The ID of the characteristic value.

**`characteristicId`**: `ID!`

The ID of the characteristic the value belongs to. It cannot be changed.

**`sortOrder`**: `Int`

The position of the value within its characteristic in a custom order, counted from 1. Null means there is no custom order and the entries are sorted alphabetically by their name in the default language. Set a custom order with the order operations; the API does not accept single positions.

**`image`**: `CharacteristicImage`

The image of the value. Absent when it has none.

---

**`texts`**: `[CharacteristicValueText!]!`

The texts per language. At least one language has a name.

---

**`itemCount`**: `Int!`

The number of items that have this value.
