# CreateCharacteristicCommandRequestInput

> Creates a characteristic. The new characteristic is put at the end of the order. Add its values with 'CreateCharacteristicValue'. Errors: CHARACTERISTIC_DISPLAY_TYPE_INVALID (the display type is not one of the known values), CHARACTERISTIC_NAME_REQUIRED (the name in the default language is missing or empty), CHARACTERISTIC_LANGUAGE_NOT_FOUND (a language is unknown or not active), CHARACTERISTIC_GROUP_NOT_FOUND (a group does not exist), CHARACTERISTIC_NAME_ALREADY_EXISTS (another characteristic has this name in the default language, regardless of upper and lower case). - Request

## Fields

**`names`**: `[CharacteristicNameInput]!` (required)

The names per language. The name in the default language is required; the other active languages are optional. One entry per language.

**`displayType`**: `String`

How the values are presented to customers in the online shop: TEXT, SELECT_BOX, IMAGE or IMAGE_AND_TEXT. Defaults to TEXT when omitted. Any other value is refused (error code CHARACTERISTIC_DISPLAY_TYPE_INVALID).

**`isMultiSelect`**: `Boolean`

Allows several values per item. Defaults to false.

**`isVisibleInShop`**: `Boolean`

Shows the characteristic to customers in the online shop. Defaults to true.

---

**`isEbayAttribute`**: `Boolean`

Transfers the characteristic to eBay as an item specific. Defaults to false.

---

**`groups`**: `[CharacteristicGroupAssignmentInput]`

The groups the characteristic belongs to. Defaults to none.

---

**`idempotencyKey`**: `String`

Client-supplied idempotency key. When provided, a repeated request with the same key and payload replays the original result instead of re-executing the mutation.
