# CreateTaxClassCommandRequestInput

> Creates a tax class. It has no rate yet in any tax zone: set one with 'SetTaxRate' in every tax zone, otherwise sales of the class cannot be taxed there. The first tax class becomes the default tax class; any later one does not, see 'MakeTaxClassDefault'. - Request

## Fields

**`name`**: `String!` (required)

The name, 1 to 255 characters, unique.

**`rateType`**: `TaxRateType`

The kind of rate the tax class stands for, unique among tax classes. Omitted means none.

**`idempotencyKey`**: `String`

Client-supplied idempotency key. When provided, a repeated request with the same key and payload replays the original result instead of re-executing the mutation.
