# Currency

> A currency of the tenant. The code identifies the currency (ISO 4217); the resource carries what the tenant configures for it: how it is written and its exchange rate to the default currency. All prices are stored in the default currency; every other currency is a conversion with its exchange rate.

## Fields

**`code`**: `String!`

The currency code. A standard currency uses its ISO 4217 alpha-3 code in capitals ('EUR'); a currency defined by the tenant uses a code with the prefix 'x-' in lower case ('x-loyalty'). Requests are matched ignoring case, responses always carry the canonical spelling.

**`codeSource`**: `CurrencyCodeSource!`

Whether the code is a standard ISO 4217 code or was assigned by the tenant.

**`name`**: `String`

The display name, at most 20 characters.

---

**`symbol`**: `String`

The currency symbol as plain text.

---

**`symbolPlacement`**: `CurrencySymbolPlacement!`

Where the symbol stands relative to the amount.

**`decimalSeparator`**: `String`

The character between the whole part and the decimals, one character.

---

**`thousandsSeparator`**: `String`

The character between groups of thousands, one character. Empty when there is none.

---

**`exchangeRate`**: `Decimal!`

Units of this currency per unit of the default currency: a price in the default currency times this rate is the price in this currency. 1 for the default currency.

**`isDefault`**: `Boolean!`

Whether this is the default currency of the tenant, the one all prices are stored in. Exactly one currency is.

**`rateUpdatedAt`**: `DateTime`

When the exchange rate was last set or fetched. Empty if it never was.
