# FreeTextVariation

> A free-text variation of an item: a text the customer types in when ordering, for example an engraving. It has no values, no surcharge and no item number. It is not a kind of item and every kind can have it. The free-text variations of a variation parent are shown on every combination as well (isInherited).



**Kind**: `object`

## Fields

**`id`**: `ID!`

The ID of the free-text variation.

**`name`**: `String!`

Display name in the default language. It is the label of the input field.

**`names`**: `[LocalizedText!]!`

The label per language. Never null.

**`position`**: `Int!`

Zero-based position among the variations of the item.

---

**`isRequired`**: `Boolean!`

Whether the customer has to enter a text. A required free text is a requirement of the order entry, see section 5m on how far the Wawi enforces it.

**`isInherited`**: `Boolean!`

Whether the free-text variation belongs to the variation parent of the item and is shown here only. Read-only: it is changed at the parent.
