# Operation

> An operation is a reusable work step definition of production, e.g. sawing or assembling. Bills of materials refer to operations, and an operation describes its work in steps.

## Fields

**`id`**: `ID!`

The ID of the operation.

**`operationNumber`**: `String!`

The number of the operation. Unique across all operations.

---

**`name`**: `String!`

The name of the operation.

---

**`description`**: `String`

The description of the operation, or null if it has no description.

---

**`isActive`**: `Boolean!`

Indicates whether the operation is active.

---

**`isCompletionMandatory`**: `Boolean!`

Indicates whether the operation must be completed explicitly during production.

---

**`simplifiedProduction`**: `OperationSimplifiedProduction!`

Indicates whether and for whom the operation allows simplified production.

---

**`createdAt`**: `DateTime!`

The timestamp when the operation was created.

---

**`changedAt`**: `DateTime!`

The timestamp of the last change of the operation.

---

**`changedBy`**: `ID`

The ID of the user who last changed the operation, or null if unknown.

**`steps`**: `[OperationStep!]!`

The steps of the operation, ordered by their sort index.
