# StockTrackingInput

> How the units of an item are traced: not at all, by batch / shelf life expiration date (Lot) or by serial number (Serial). 'lotTracking' is only present for Lot and 'serialNumberTracking' only for Serial; a value for the other kind is refused with 400. (One model with a kind and optional fields, because the generator cannot map a polymorphic type inside a variant of another polymorphic type.)

What the stock postings carry to trace the lots. Present only for Lot, required there.

**`serialNumberTracking`**: `SerialNumberTrackingType`

At which point of the goods flow serial numbers are captured. Present only for Serial, required there.
