# TaxClass

> A tax class. Items, shipping methods and line items carry a tax class; a tax zone gives each tax class its rate.



**Kind**: `object`

## Fields

**`id`**: `ID!`

The ID of the tax class.

**`name`**: `String!`

The name of the tax class.

---

**`rateType`**: `TaxRateType`

The kind of rate the tax class stands for. Empty when the tax class has none.

---

**`isDefault`**: `Boolean!`

Whether this is the default tax class. Line items without a tax class of their own, for example of items without one, are taxed with it.
